Speaking as a user — THIS 500 KB site is the web I want.

Speaking as someone who worries about the architecture of the web — I keep thinking that we’ve built a platform that is serves, in this example: 9% content, 91% ads and tracking.

What exciting things do you have planned for your day in Berlin, Sandro?

Uh, sitting on a bench. Why?

Just finished panel for Advisory Committee (about 90 tech leaders in room) about Misinfo/Disinfo/"Fake News". I think it went great. My slides: hawke.org/talk-ac-2018

Fellow panelists here in Berlin: Konrad Lischka, Jochen Spangenberg, Falk Steiner

Konrad opened with pitching algorithmic diversity via ActivityPub, but no one directly suggested

#introduction

this is hilarious. The far-right party #afd from #germany just had press conference with all journalists solidary leaving it after one journalist was prohibited to ask questions.

So they canceld their ''press-conference without press''

I was 9 years old when I read (and fell awestruck in love) with my first Thanos stories, recently published. Still got the comics.

Just realized that fact: Mastodon instances should indicate the name of the company/organization providing the network for this instance.

The problem is: if in a country only one network provides connectivity for 99% of the available instances like (maybe) the OVH company in France, users should know this data in order to open a backup account on an instance hosted in another network, why not in another country.

We are currently working on figuring out how the #GDPR will effect #Mastodon

We have reached out and asked for help from #EFF ( @eff ).

Currently there's a discussion on the projects GitHub, and if you know anything that may help us that's the place to go. Please try to read the conversation before pitching in though!

Finally decided to join #Mastodon after listening to @sandro talk on decentralized social media at #TheWebConf yesterday. Really inspiring: build the protocol standard(s) and let the natural forces of decentralization take over.

At ? Come to Gratte Ciel 2 after lunch and learn how the Social Web is the Next Big Thing. I'll even use the pedestrian bridge next the conference center as the perfect metaphor.

Okay, finished my slides for talk, enough to go to bed. Gentle comments welcome. Had to trim a lot I wanted to include due to time constraints (25 minutes).

This is an invited W3C talk at a web research conference, so I'm hoping to inspire researchers to do cool new projects on top of the Fediverse software and protocols.

Is it correct to say the can gracefully handle ActivtyStreams extensions (passing them through to clients and other servers) but cannot, because of their database schema and protocol designs? Or pleroma can't either, because it's using the same restricted client-server protocol?

@tzviya I just sent you (another) zulip invitation. Did you get it?
